It's just scary weekdays you descend on Boston -- station WAA asked. Mary let's contracts. We -- just talking by the fact you -- Afghanistan. I've been to Iraq and Afghanistan and I just I got back this past September. That's an interesting place to try -- -- -- radio broadcasts yeah that. It's insisting place without her radio broadcast that in -- management that's yeah it in. I've seen some the bands like over there with like the US now -- watching you know the guys try to keep all your gear clean in in those kind of conditions. It just wreaks Havoc on musical instruments. Have you guys done any of those and any -- like the military base tours of the USO tours or whatever. They've come we usually we have them at the same for you guys haven't come to our. Our show we we of that kind of -- an open invite but we definitely have a lot of it's -- little connections it is to friends and family and whoever you can. Spread the word in the -- by groups down to that shows it's been everywhere from like the US says. We even did the same thing in Okinawa because there's a huge US military. There. That was really funny Okinawa show is great because. It's it's a stereotype that like is occasionally true where the Japanese fans in the audience like it's like the majority the audience was one height and then they're like these. -- -- bullies of like white people at. Got a -- like over top of them like a -- dollar. They you know big bikes big white soldier American soldier dudes in the these little like Japanese kids is for -- It's it's interesting when -- it to go to was shown a war zone in and watch like 3000. Guys in in a hit. Like crowd surfing with machine guns on their back it's it's very unnerve I have never seen anything like it before. But I highly recommend it if you get the chance hit -- I gotta argue about this to work is this like a clash of the titans for WA -- week. We go back so far with Lincoln Park and in cubist and have you guys together on the Honda Civic tour. Whose idea was this and have they gotten a pay -- You know we've got to find that Barack. It's errors -- genius. Yes we we it's it's kind of overdue to be honest and we're where we're just excited and I ask you guys first where you lark -- -- always -- the band's first where America's most the time I've no idea. You know where you are announced that he would do you know where -- -- -- We know we know where we are because you're not out on the road yet as soon as you get on tour -- -- you know you see it written down somewhere you have no -- you have David and you know when you do an arena excellent. And you're in the you know the hockey arena isn't in the busses parked underground in. You -- -- -- today for three or four days straight and the only way you could tell what -- -- by the raptors thing unions ceiling at what banners or hang in he had. -- and assume that these yellow banners hang in in the code of the seeds. Elect is again mavericks banner we must be endow us. Well you could happen to me that actually. Don't have an idea -- like that okay cool where Baltimore -- What you are playing at the Comcast and there are no rafters out there is its outdoor venue this summer but in the middle of August it's a perfect time. In the end going to be awesome is it just you guys are did you select an opening band come with you or what's. Went on and mute math is opening. We're excited to have them -- really cool coal man. When you guys are getting ready to do this kind of -- you start making decisions about. Headliners and -- on lettuce and with all of the music that you guys have released over the years how do you go about selecting. What songs are actually gonna play because you're catalogs are held a lot larger than they where back in the day we started playing. He had that's that's typical tourist you know. For me. I'm able to play I think we have honored and force all around in. My dad and on the notably most of them so it doesn't really matter to me I know you know overtime you know it's one's a crowd react to little more about the brand in. You know he's got to work his voice into the said and then he's got -- time we've got a really strong voice in the time we've got a wrist. He -- -- -- put a little set together and we'll structure and what kind of have like this album is set. And we'll just swaps on -- things that you know and and he's -- it's a little more picky was that because of the nature seen. I believe the only show you guys ever played without him as the when needed for us here in Boston he yes. Actually gone up and -- on that you do it and told some people a lot of crowd yeah like. -- -- kids at and they sent similar songs in it was just move you know kind of felt like a little backyard by every. Exactly. -- he had brand it was real CAA -- voice and it was right before the show. So you know it was heated go home and you keep standing in the in the room an hour just to sound cool in the you know as it was pretty cool he. He was very cool yeah but at the end of the show you guys like we're never doing that again. -- We played we played one should oh with we would we couldn't they -- now. Chest Europe probably without any. The that we did have one word just on the way to the show Phoenix got super sick. And it was a food poisoning kind of thing so he was as violently ill and we we handed basically handed the base duties over to his -- Ted and if you know Ted you know you're. You know that day and this is going to be an exaggeration and I hope of Ted Stanley is listening -- It's a staple guy from office space is like he. Did hit it does he mean. That guy like there's a little bit of that that goes on the -- he super quiet and you kind of afraid that if you do something wrong he might be bring the shock. And so I'm like cool like we're gonna give Ted based responsibilities but if it goes poorly. I wanna be gone because I don't want to be there when the shock on comes out. I call that haven't ahead in the fridge. But if you went to Ted's house in UN into his fridge and you move the gallon of milk would be human head in there and you have no idea where it came round. This is what we like to imagine I think I like to imagine this about Ted is that like it keeps me on my toes. And like I like the idea of having. Mass murder in our in our our crew. How times is that happy note that attack last minute had to go win I mean it's happened for everybody from Metallica Ted. Where he -- like oh my god. It's a real quick just to finish the story I guess they didn't say Ted just heated so well like he. He's got that mean he's went to music school he's thrown everything out on a key piece of Paper himself some notes but those on the ground. And basically he's never played through the -- sat with us before we didn't even get to do -- that day and he did it on the fly and he nailed pretty much everything so awesome. At least you know you got somebody on standby. It had -- Bruntlett about kind of -- arrogant had put my head in the frigid take my gig -- that's exactly what we told. Elected Europe's we're so happy for you get to go home. And Ted's just gonna take over. You know we just he's worked out really well we don't need you anymore. Along those same lines I was reading me a survey yesterday and they were talking about like the funniest movies of all time in spinal -- still makes it into like -- top five and I always like asked the band's. That I get a chance to talk to about. Serious. Spinal Tap pod moments onstage and getting greater roll out this big summer tour with. I'm sure pyro and lights and video screens and all this stuff and what what's happened on stage that you were just like oh my god we are living in Spinal Tap -- now. Advocate I get one there is a time when am and we were. We switch are we we we have a few different. Set lists that rule will kind of rotator play in and out of you know it. -- -- for overtimes about AP people come to more than big you know sometimes fans wanna come to more than one show in a row. And that that way there -- watching the same show. And we had. Been doing that but. Pretty much all the sets. Kind of had in the and the song in the end was right before the young core that -- There was one step closer was right before the on corporate. And in the end was kind of in and in the meat. This -- you know and so I was thinking like it in once that -- going to be the one we played that then we get out offstage. So before we'd gotten there are gone and the crowd I did in the end. Like in the crowd basically like right on the very -- with the fans. And get I was so excited it's a much energy in them getting them all hyped up -- you ready when -- of music you're missing some more and I'd turn around and the band is gone. I am I mean I just like I -- them up to an eleven like they were still excited I was so excited and actor and it's. We changed the senate this afternoon. Like its encore break now and I basically had to dislike slink off stage again. And nobody notices does nobody has a camera phone and YouTube the -- you don't have to worry about. Our guys were dying they're sitting bags while you're well. What stock deal. -- the -- they did get on the mud down in the crowd like thirty feet away from them. I'd doctor Robbie Alfred from -- trees can he fell on his motorcycle on stage and I think you know how much more pressure is is it now. When you're on stage and you make a mistake as you know in about thirty seconds it's going to be up on the Internet and never be removed. Do you worry about that stuff. No you know in in its kinda ironic because in a lot of way those moments make so little more spent. A you know they they embarrassing on Diane split I think he knows kids actually seen some -- -- different and and you know it makes especially you always remembered those moments yet and for us to mean I you as -- about it. Like we know. Will make mistakes and stuff to a full of words there Chester and I've -- boats like at certain points like just gotten into reverse and completely blanked on like what the next part was. -- crap tell prompt you something like. Look I we I hope the fans again this week is this the way I look at it like at least you know you're getting a live show true way because these pop back some of these these kids like they go out there they stop singing and then the sun is still going. And that's not what happens for a band like ours again that we stop singing like that part. It's regatta left on the open it's up to somebody to remind us what we're different girls mostly messy anyway. Yeah and is to -- a certain level of imperfection and a lot more people than you think these teleprompters you Ozzie props for being nano in -- -- then rocket. Is that what you guys hoped it to have a career like Ozzie DC your -- Doing it after all those years. I mean it'll be fine if we were in control of how much we did. At the world survey you know I think. As far as I've been and we love to play music and you know if we only played together we. Every year here on -- -- back to keep doing that week. You know Sammy Hagar has got it all figured out he's got a film buyers still -- he just plays and he feels like it you know you gotta make it low stress because you now.
