It pretty much yet it's not all cement but it's mostly glassed in skylight and funky angles in guests -- felt like a sore thumb appear. You know when you're working on music with the chicken foot guys it's a collaboration you're having fun but there's got to be a certain amount of I don't know just feeling weird that Blake. You're writing all this stuff down and and that everyone else is gonna like here into your private party your brain. Yep that's why pull the plug on three books before that let you know there's all kinds of reasons why I didn't do the other books but I finished two books myself. The Wasilla and as someone else wrote a book about that result trash. And called it like to be on my biography and going you know can't somebody else can write you forget by Rick if I was dead baby but as long as -- -- and always gonna write a -- -- -- opinion of who what I am. So I think I have -- -- and and the -- -- -- and and it's it's. It's a little bit disturbing you you know you re I'd read like chapter thirteen or something you know like -- some. Inside Van -- stuff presumptive having going oh can't but didn't go on like got to say it. It's what happens you know -- -- what I did and in in the I got kids you know that. -- got it teenaged daughter now you know and. -- -- -- -- -- Turns sixteen next month and I'm gone. Well my guess she heard her friends are gonna read this -- sure that they did. It's that cell you know what I don't at some point you -- come clean you know honestly. I think the reason. I wrote the book finally was because of all the controversy between you know -- Van -- the van Hagar era. And edit and and people come to -- the streets or Kabul or anywhere -- go -- Sammy you know why can't should any event together if they want you guys make a new record lunch it is once is that I'm going. I would -- so. But it's so hard you can't say it with every person and explain to them why. It was a work -- So I that this kind of puts that to rest and the other thing is is people don't realize what my background where it came from. That I was dirt or and my father was an -- it died in the back of a police car you know that was picked up for the city park. And when I was twenty years old and you know just not at every given CA and -- you. To have as much you know look -- successes I've had I just want people to know that I earned it and that. That it wasn't given to me and that you can -- to and I thought it was a real uplifting book and that's since Torre go they look at Sammy Hagar. Can go out and do all these things why can't shoot I didn't finish high school I'm not the smartest guy in the world obviously. I'm I'm not what might get the best looking guy. At and that it I'm not the most talented but I'm willing to work hard. And that's all it really takes him a little bit look and you can have anything you want and I think that's the -- In my book is that that's that's the thing that make me number one best seller and I think people got something from a and and that's that it is just garbage and people a lot of Rucker wrote books is sex drugs and rock and -- there's ways that can read there's plenty of that. There you don't need it before that but there's also some good uplifting stuff that makes you hold yourself in and -- hey -- Sammy can do it I -- and that's true. And you released at a time when. You know Van Halen was just kind of kind of gone away for awhile in whatever and now it's all backs fronts and there and every time you even mentioned the band name. It's gonna have. And up everywhere in the tabloids and everybody target what's am talking about David got a gun -- it's. And now you guys are all out on tour at the same time kind of. It picked up and put soaked it so it says sure what was the whole damn thing. But you know the all the smack that was -- about any in the book really was I wasn't targeted by I just was telling everybody is things have happened. Within that band and if you read the first part of it you know the first nine years -- -- it over the greatest musical. Times in my life you know and they just that it went sour went bad -- bad relationship like a marriage is so -- -- going to. In historical and in divorce court and then it erases what she what she said he did you know so it got and all that but honestly. I was only god -- them. Do reaching on the last couple years ago a year ago because they have done anything for a hundred years ago that these guys don't take care of their fans. They're just it's so wrong thing need to go out and do some -- for the -- banjo out of its. Now with me here now with the whatever just go out any going to studio mixing music with these people go on these shows. Do something for your fans they've been. Very loyal and now that they're doing that -- that won't stop them again I'm I'm so happy they're not doing that you know for the fans not from me. There. But. Those bands you know I was in that -- -- -- as part of my legacy. And you know I don't want to kill the impetus that lays the golden egg with -- Part of your musical legacy obviously goes back to Montrose sides. To ask you about the passing of Ronnie Montrose and and how that's affected -- is that just happened pretty recently. I tell you that when I got a call from I came home from some I was out doing something I got home about. 11 o'clock at night and it was a call they come in a couple of hours there from IndyCar -- And that he's shook up bad because you know Sammy -- army out to what time is calming. I think I don't know my -- -- all -- -- to his wife for whether this kitchen. And I just felt that. On the phone when I calling back and he said he couldn't hardly see any result choked up they said -- instead I. I -- it floored me I was so shocked it was the last thing I expected. Because. I just talked to -- like -- be running I don't talk that much you know we've talked twice a year -- the last ten years that's a lot. And but I called him because from my birthday bash is hearing combo. I said look we're all getting old this is I mean just like a week before this were all getting old Ronnie. I wondered -- talk to you first report called -- and bill were all still alive and we can all still to it. What -- prep -- are you guys to Kabul you bring your family which -- You know up for a week on the beach and have the best I haven't but just played one show at the Kabul level for the fans -- one of the my birthday -- On my birthday really wanted to do it on the thirteenth. But October. And he said he thinks about it -- you you know I like about you you're always trying to you know. Come up with some cockamamie idea to get itself back together. Gas is try to do it you know. And so he -- sure I'll do it we remove that and have a great I called any the next day -- built church. They -- all -- it was set I did everything in the book flights I was even thinking about flying every bite out of my -- just -- all of -- to get together. And be together and and you know on the way there and just really live it -- you know. And that was honest it got my plan and it was set it was etched in stone and and the guy checks out it was so weird. And then I get it's I got I go back to the microphone. And there's two days later he calls routed calmly left the messages said you know paid our -- So it -- it was like emergency call but you know but Sony we just ironic that we just connected again and we we don't do very well. Have run and I didn't go along so I've been good at that. -- to say the least yeah. Yeah otherwise Montrose you know so but because very few bands from net Eric -- were were from the early seventies. Are still all the members alive and and able. And still playing music and still able to go out and and do a good reunion you know it's always couple guys that message you know. And so I really -- hope we gonna do that one last time -- can get them. Now you have one of those lives where you know you're talking about your playing and like all of the stuff. But when a guy you know that you known as long as as Ronnie Montrose is gone and does it give you. Pause and make you look at your life and -- are right there's still some things I haven't done that I really need to push towards the top. Of of my -- You know list of things that I wanna do and I do now -- -- -- imagine with your crazy life things that you haven't done yet that you want to. Well I'm ready and have things honest about I itself but he would say that it didn't have anything to do authorities step. But I was facing. After -- -- -- tequila company. And honestly -- that was like the big thing for me that you know that -- unheard of saying for a guy just. You know as a singer of rock band to do something that was you know to build that particular country's number two premium tequila in the in the world and turbulence over gazillion dollars of that. I'm real proud that. And it's not because of -- how much money it was it was because. Well I didn't think it could actually -- things like that it's so that kind of put the -- set me back -- well. What's next and then when I wrote the book. And it went to number one. You know I mean I got grammys -- and hall of fame American music awards you know and -- -- got all those kind of things of a gazillion gold and platinum records. Beautiful family all -- and let. But and I am not racquet at December but those things altogether and -- in the book what number one outlet that's I don't know wipers and cars that. That's it I really don't have anymore ambition shall achieve a full went gold. You know I'm going wow could afford generations of rock have been you know around as long. Platinum comes in and can -- different things so. Montrose and Palin not -- -- -- but that's and I really don't have anything -- to do it and it started going this route. An uncle and and kind of excited about this they must admit you know and you know everybody's got to give -- deal. -- dirty look like use said that you know -- daddy -- says you know I know -- that we're moving to Hawaii -- That it's it's it's really I always look for things to keep me going. Shows in Europe -- -- different countries but just to promote the album that but no yeah I got yet. But it looks like Chad's going to be out for awhile so that's what we put this tournament and we're using -- he's fantastic. He we started in Kabul with him just like we start in Kabul with -- where it's kind of for giving you know you can you can blow it. And it's part of the deal people opinion on court for her from -- enough mistakes show. And so and it really we're great -- you know embrace it think it is I mean it here are some great great oh yeah yeah insult. -- is. He's not in the band but he's still in the chosen this and Chad. It is worth thinking about next summer doing. -- which had big cities next looks like next April. And officially you know and and Chad we've already talked to leave maybe go up next summer and the American tour and a at a European toward. On the -- of this album I told Joseph whatever the last thing I wanted to is that that the suitcase you know for the first six or eight months of my life. But we have to go -- promote this record for the -- so. So we're doing this you know. Theaters you know kind of medium sized venues not -- it's a bigger read. Yet you're going to be at the orpheum in Boston it's a great place to see. And yet we vessel went to a plea places that sounded and really. -- off the musical talent in the -- and you know we stretch you know we we we take it to three minutes ought to make it seven minutes on so. You know we we really. Like to -- people to be it was here every note you know -- places damn fast. If you play you know in every day here at five minutes later as well as part of -- that's so it's from behind me you know. So we we really want to get. Our chops really together and and find out who we are. With. You know with a different government Kenny and and maybe next several bullet through -- -- -- bigger venues but right now we we really like this -- rooms that sort of play in Europe and it really it was good you know we. We were thinking about Hillary is going to be packaged together and and after we went to hear from played -- bouncy as it was like. It's so rewarding to have the place packed and happy here everything your play in and the audience here at and it just feels. More into that I like it.
