-- Gary Carter's on the phone we will never resolve never forgive you for 1986 in those. Two home runs at Fenway so please don't think we're ever letting -- -- Well I'm sorry about that but I was just trying to do my job and obviously. It was upsetting -- you know the biggest I think hit that I had and that series was well we were out. Down five to three in the bottom of the tenth inning and -- came up to the plate and everybody was anticipating -- The curse that was going to be listed but it didn't happen. And unfortunately I was able to come through it the rest is history. Did you see you see that this year on opening day Bill Buckner got a resounding standing ovation at Fenway. All right guys I thought that was the greatest thing that could've happened in the Boston area I truly believe that Bill Buckner was. You know at that -- coming to. You know he was a great player I mean he was. I would say just in -- way from being an alt favorably it was a one batting title with a you know at I think over 2800 hits in his career was hard nosed. You know just a great player and it out to be remembered that one play it was so I'm I'm sure very very frustrating for him and it and I know how an upset -- -- -- speculate that it finally got to the extent worry that the move and I think he moved of that as far out have reached from everywhere someplace like in Wyoming. And so in the come back and of course now. Everybody is gonna have you know forget. I I think it for -- somewhat. What transpired 86 because the Red Sox have won a couple of championships since. Yeah well ice the Hall of Fame. You as a hall of Famer you played this guy do you think Jim Rice deserves to be there. You know I've I've played against Jimmy two seasons in the minor league. In the Eastern League. And and he was the best player in the league and then in 1974. In the International League. You know he he was MVP again. And he was did he just stood out up above everybody outside I felt proud that I came in second to him -- home runs and RBIs that year and in 78 -- And that's in his success now obviously 75 Freddy Lynn was the rookie of the year the MVP but. But -- -- don't civil rights was so steady. Further fourteen years that he played and agreed you know except that he had he was always have feared hitter. Any he put up some tremendous numbers. And I don't know what is his deal was with the press and I'm not sure. How well he played the wall like Carl Yastrzemski did. But nevertheless. Do -- feel that he's deserving absolutely and I think that Debian in his last year. I think this is probably gonna happen but then make the comparison to a teammate of mine for eight years and I feel like he put up some pretty. Tremendous numbers that -- great -- and I don't Andre. You know look at what eight gold gloves or something I don't know if -- even did get a gold gloves so I think in comparison. I think -- deserving but it being that this is going to be last the last year of eligibility for Jimmy I hope for his sake and his family that it does. I don't know if if the you've ever commented on and not admire a guy because I was trying to find out if you had enough but. Does it bother you. That the nationals. Have a guy wearing number eight is it is it Marlon Anderson is wearing number eight is is that is that bothersome TO. I don't know it's Marlon Anderson I thought -- Aaron Boone where it. But if I might be wrong because you know Bob Boone and his father is it's a part of the outlet nationals organization met. Doesn't bother me absolutely I mean not I'm just surprised. That you know if you're looking at. The nucleus of the team there's still a lot of players that came from the the Montreal. -- and that nationals are not even recognizing. It and part of the Expos history. Their only recognizing. That Washington's editors of the past. And and it's kind of you know frustrating because. You know there was -- other players' numbers that were retired Andre DOS and then and the rest he stopped Tim Raines has never was tired. And and I'm just very surprised that you know that would not be carry over for an organization that existed for over 36 years. Yeah it's like it's kind of good -- dropping the ball right there what he should say the only thinking yeah. As a team forget it's aired cents a elected it's ridiculous -- offensive -- I mean ally it's a hundred numbers like Jerry's best yet you're numbers are incredible. Okay so it is is Syria to understand I'm Canadian U -- you're my idol growing up we living in northern Saskatchewan I was a pitcher catcher. You're you know you're right you were everything to media expose or ever mean to me and it and it's disgusting that's probably where you've got that the kid expression from -- -- -- I probably love that I I would love that Gary Carter's nickname is -- the kids I mean that's -- says he says -- I think on everybody 101000. Well it out you know I I had a serious debt in the book you know still a kid at heart baseball beyond and it talks a little bit about that and I feel kind of disenfranchised. Because you know my association. Was for so many years with the Expos and I'd love to. You know my opportunity. Living up there even Turkey taking taking a -- course you know my my -- second daughter was born out there. You know all of those things that I've got so -- on memories of Montreal. And yet might association after they've left became you know more so with the mat and then I was in their organization is that a coach and manager for six years cement. They wanted to send me to Binghamton, New York -- May -- their double -- team and I said what's wrong with staying you know close to home in port saint -- -- -- have to be in the minor leagues like that at least be close to home police killed him at that opportunity when he was managing in West Palm Beach because this homers in Delray of these you know managed that West Palm Beach Expos for about six or seven years. -- finally got -- the opportunity get the Major League level I didn't really understand it and you know it it's kind of frustrating and disappointing and it's just kind of culmination of everything what you. Talk about that that number not being passed on to the nationals and no -- at the Expos in existence and now no longer associated with the the -- and now guess what I'm gonna do you have going to be managing it independently team this summer. An orange county and is that Orange County flyers. And guys in the independently and that ultimately. So why you talk about full circle and I graduated from high school at 1972. And now all these years later I'm going back to Fullerton where I grew up and I'm going to be managing this team does -- Is your number is is still I think they move the numbers over to the bells and as it is it's still over there. Correct head areas there via the retired numbers are still you know intact where the Canadians play yeah the -- better. And and -- de forest there and rusty wasn't able to make it -- was to -- in on great opt in and I was there. And it's nice to be recognized there for the Canadians because I don't have -- in that franchise ever. Leaving. You know there are several hopped for -- that have left candidate but nevertheless I do believe that you know that will. You know continue on in a court -- it will never. Replace the forum that I used to go to see a lot of the games that balancing -- street but. You know let. The belt senators agree hockey arena and to have banner hanging overhead in recognizing those those exposed raises is something very. That still a kid at heart my life and based on. We had we had Jose Canseco on a few weeks going hung up on us because LB was asking about whether he did the book for money you're not. -- you when you look at somebody like Jose and what he has written in his books and and you know the fact that he. Is selling some people not selling others out what do you think of that as as a hall of -- in in in the way it affects baseball. -- What do you think that you a question. Right I it was that's your answer you mean there. Well I I I'm I'm hearing. You know whatever is gases going -- -- background. No Iron Man is gone now. That's should be gone by now object so that Jose. Jose's book you know he he hung up last week we asked to be -- just for money. What what is your opinion all the themed room with somebody like Jose writes his book instead it's outing everybody. Well I don't know if he lives. Necessarily 100% out for the money if he hung up -- -- and up but I think he was just trying to keep his name. A round. Big game and exploiting the other players because obviously he's come out. And and admitted to. You know doing steroids and I think that he just didn't wanna be the only one. Kind of remembered or recognize says and the players. Involved with the steroids during the era and I and I think -- you know once the Mitchell report came out there -- like that I think that that was the reason probably for the book I mean he wrote the first one and now. They're talking about maybe even do it movie about it have you know posing as a good looking guy any I'm sure he still keeps himself. You know it shape and I don't know it is that these steroids creates DH or whatever of those guys do you take. But that would not be me today you know I would never sort eBay buddy -- under the bus to fight. If if fight -- I would take the blame for but I would bring anybody else into it and it's unfortunate with even Roger Clemens go to congress and and exploiting himself there and now look at what you know investigators are doing their digging up more dirt on Roger Clemens that it has -- fortunate. What at the end of your career would you retire in 92 I think his -- you retired Gary. I retired in 92 every senior in. We ever ever attempt -- steroids around than anybody anybody doing it then we have attempted. It did not I didn't know about it. I think you know certainly nobody ever approached me and of course -- terror were not -- I guess said the club about skidded in and at chase stadium he never -- -- asked me about anything in their regarding steroids and I didn't even I vaguely remembered him and then what I saw a picture of -- yes that's the guys used to pick up the jobs and tells it. -- -- but but as far as that goes I don't remember ambient you know a distributor you know I mean it was just kind of wildest. And and sell. I I guess like kind of -- started noticing it in 93 when I was broadcasting and I went to the All-Star game in Philadelphia. It's not for the first time home run hitting contest that was on the field. And I looked at Brady Anderson and that was the year that he yet it's the and I said this guy is not human and there's no way yet been done about the pain it's no. You know I I thought no one can be at vascular I don't care how much you're in the GO you know. And so something was gone on and I I just wasn't really aware that I I was. I was kind of one of those kids that was. And I gave everything I had no clue that doc Gooden and strawberry and all those guys were doing what they were doing either so in all right well I wanted to do it got the ball -- late Tuesday. You'll want there are now wondering out Darryl could stay awake for 48 hours straight and why why was grinding is teeth all the time. Yeah. It's -- You know I don't I don't even have any clue about that means there when I started hearing rumors about that I go really and I can you tell you know dislike his mannerisms or whatever. -- yeah I I. I have no -- no clue about that stuff never done it don't plan on it and don't wanna be involved I I when I put my head on the pillow at night guys I can I can sleep like a baby. And art. Well the the book is -- still a kid at heart my life in baseball on the on this great read if you're baseball fan you wanna find out also what life is like after baseball first third -- like Gary Kidd Carter and he should read it and it's been great to have you DOS and thank you very much here.
